1 dec 2004: DCDD workshop on disability and HIV/Aids

Published by: Dutch Coalition on Disability and Development (DCDD)

At the World Aids Day on 1 December at the eight national congress STD HIV/AIDS, DCDD organised a workshop on the relation between HIV/Aids and disability. Please find at this page the powerpoint presentations.

Worldwide there is hardly any attention for the problematic relationship between HIV/Aids and disability. Though disabled people are a large group (WHO: 10 %) and are proportionally more poor, hardly any specific measures are directed towards for example blind and deaf people in HIV prevention campaigns. Both powerpoint presentations of Mathieu Janssen and Mark Raijmakers can be downloaded in PDF format from this webpage. Mark Raijmakers reports in his presentation about recently published results of a global survey on HIV/Aids and disability from the Yale University. More information about this global survey can be found at http://cira.med.yale.edu/globalsurvey/. The research report can also be downloaded from this page in PDF format.
