What? – Digital solutions for disability inclusion
This time we will skip the formalities of sharing meeting minutes and annual plans (which you’ll still receive via email). Because we really want to spend some quality time with all of you! To facilitate a fruitful exchange, we’ve picked the theme ‘digital solutions for disability inclusion’. We’ve got very interesting speakers lined up, who we will shortly introduce to you here below.
Sprekers:
How can we ensure consistent knowledge and quality among community based rehabilitation workers? Léa Guignard will share the RehApp that Enablement developed. The RehApp Mobile app is freely available for fieldworkers in low-and middle-income countries and aims to enhance their capacity to work with people with disabilities within the community: assess their abilities and inabilities, design rehabilitation interventions, provide care and support and refer appropriately.
How can people with visual impairment get easier access to smartphones? Meet social entrepreneurs Ayushman Talwar and Freek van Welsenis, who have developed Hable One– a smartphone and tablet assistant which makes it much quicker and easier for people to navigate their phone. While having a successful start-up here in The Netherlands, their ambition is to pilot a scalable service which teaches about assistive technologies and using smartphones and tablets, where Ayushman’s story with his grandad started , as well.
Enhancing access to rehabilitation services through people-centered app-based screening and telerehabilitation. CBR Adviser Inge Groenewegen and Organisational Development Adviser Willie Houben from the Liliane Foundation will introduce the AKTIBU app that partner Norfil in Philippines is currently developing with support from the Liliane Foundation. This app will have a screening tool for families and caretakers of CWDs, as well as an password-protected assessment tool and tele-rehabilitation function for local healthcare workers and rehabilitation professionals.
