Below, you will find the annual plan for 2024. This marks the start of the multi-annual strategy 2024-2026 of the Dutch Coalition on Disability and Development (DCDD). We will focus on the opportunities we can all seize together. Together, we achieve more.

Annual Plan 2024

Introduction

Introduction

Network of participants

The DCDD Network consists of participants: NGOs, research and training institutes, and individuals interested in and working on the inclusion of people with disabilities in the sector of development cooperation and humanitarian action. Participants of the DCDD network join forces to create a platform for learning about disability-inclusion and to have a stronger voice towards policymakers and other stakeholders.

Introduction

Network core Group

The DCDD Coordination Team works closely with a Network Core Group, a group of core DCDD participants working together to translate the DCDD multi-annual strategy into concrete operational steps. They jointly leverage ideas towards operationalising the network of DCDD participants and ensuring that this aligns with what the network needs and what the DCDD participants see as opportunities.

Introduction

Coordination Team

The DCDD Coordination Team is the staff employed by the Board of DCDD. It is an engine that facilitates, boosts, and catalyses the DCDD Network.

Doel 1

A growing collaboration on disability inclusion

Doel 1

Deliverables 2024

  • We welcome a new group of network participants and followers who share the enthusiasm for disability inclusion.
  • New network participants know what to use the network for and whom to contact.

The DCDD has a Core Group of active participants who develop and facilitate new initiatives for participants and their partners in the South, such as:

  • Online and face-to-face events to meet and share experiences.
  • An easily accessible database of existing tools and resources.
  • A tracking tool to measure DCDD’s impact on the Dutch development/aid sector.

These goals are related to our work with the WeAreAble! project:

  • DCDD organizes thematic sessions to increase knowledge on disability inclusion among NGOs.
  • DCDD participates in lobby and learning trajectories around inclusion;
  • DCDD facilitates workshops of its partner in Uganda to train other NGOs and the Dutch embassy on inclusive food security programs.
  • DCDD gives input for an inclusion policy paper of the Dutch Relief Alliance.
  • DCDD supports collaboration among its participants by facilitating their initiatives.
  • DCDD contributes to a disability-inclusive framework for MoFA’s new strategic partnerships.
  • DCDD partners with coalitions and contributes to disability inclusion within these strategic partnerships.
Doel 2

DCDD serves the sector as a Disability Inclusion Expertise Hub.

Doel 2

Deliverables 2024

  • DCDD has a clear overview of the expertise of its participants and partners.
  • DCDD shares reached milestones on disability inclusion through its media outlets.
  • The DCDD has an Expertise Hub where professionals in the network can share their knowledge and safeguard that we practice what we preach.
Doel 3

MoFA applies disability inclusion

We don’t know yet what will happen to the MoFA budget and internal capacity. If the four currently negotiating parties continue to govern/dominate, then the most likely scenario is enormous budget cuts, especially in development cooperation. In addition, the ‘feminist foreign policy’ and climate funding will then likely cease. In this case, lobbying needs to be directed towards elements that do remain under foreign policy: humanitarian aid, human rights (CRPD monitoring), inclusive Human Resources (HR) policy within the ministry itself, and possibly multilateral institutions based in NL and still receiving funding (e.g. UNICEF).

Doel 3

Deliverables 2024

  • DCDD will continue strengthening the relationship with MoFA by regularly meeting with the Social Development Department and the Feminist Foreign Policy team.
  • DCDD provides input for inclusive Dutch Foreign Trade and Development legislation and policies
  • The MoFA staff is invited to DCDD events.
  • DCDD provides its input for inclusive HR policies within MoFA.
  • DCDD builds relationships with new MPs and delivers joint messages with the DCDD lobby group.
