Do you want to work with us on equal opportunities for people with disabilities worldwide? Are you eager to use your communication skills to support the activities of our network? Then we are looking for you!

DCDD is a Dutch platform that promotes disability inclusion in international development cooperation. We believe in the power of inclusion. When people with disabilities are included in all social, economic and political spheres of life, everybody gains. Right now, people with disabilities around the world face many physical obstacles, communication barriers, inadequate laws and policies, as well as negative stereotypes. Change is needed. We promote disability inclusion through lobby, linking and learning. We aim to show everyone in the Dutch development and humanitarian aid sector that inclusion works! Certainly if we learn and work together.

What are you going to do?

We offer a flexible internship/volunteer position where you can bring your communication skills to life while gaining knowledge and experience in the field of international development. Your communication supports the activities of our network, such as learning and networking activities for members and lobbying activities towards the Dutch government. For example, you design new communication materials, optimise our new website, write and publish articles about (online) events we host, proactively use our social media outlets to make them an interactive platform. You will be part of DCDD’s small but motivated team of four colleagues and you will mainly work together with our Network & Communication Officer and Communications Assistant.

What are we looking for?

• You are proactive and have a positive result-oriented attitude;

• You have affinity with international development and/or human rights;

• You have experience in communication and social media;

• You are independent, flexible and able to work online from home;

• You have a good command of English (and preferably also Dutch);

• You currently follow or finished a bachelor or master course in Communication / International Relations / International Development or other relevant studies;

• You are available for a minimum of 8 hours per week for a period of at least six months.

What do we offer?

• Work experience within the NGO sector and the opportunity to learn from and network in the field of communication, inclusion, accessibility and advocacy;

• A flexible internship/volunteer position to gain work experience and the opportunity to develop your personal learning goals;

• Good atmosphere in a small team and several get togethers throughout the year.

• Location from which you work is flexible (mostly online).
